Card kits...

Hi, just popping in today to show you one set of the card kits that will be for sale in the Love is in the Details store.  The card fronts will be stamped and left blank, for you to paint or color as you like, but will include a photo of the finished card samples shown here.  These samples are just to give a general idea of how to finish them, but your own imagination should have the final say!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Home Sweet Home...

That's the name of the sweet stamp set I used for these cards.  They're posted over at Jane's Doodles blog today and I wanted to share them here as well.  If you're interested in this or any of the cute stamp sets on the Jane's Doodles website, just sit tight for another week.  The owner is on vacation and will have the site up and running again after the 21st.
Besides the Jane's Doodles stamps set, I also used those fun stitched square frame dies from Lawn Fawn.  I cut several and stacked them up to give the cards some definition.  I also coated the die cut hearts with Glossy Accents, and popped up the fussy cut stamped images with foam tape.

Have a great day!

This place...

Hi, hello!  Just popping on today to tell you I've a layout posted on the Love is in the Details blog today.  I'm showcasing some product available in the store when it opens again (soonish? wink) plus a technique that we'll be covering in the upcoming DIY Embellishments class.  Head on over there to learn more.

I'm kind of obsessed right now with that smooshy bundle of thread braded to the top of that tag!

Thanks for stopping by today loves!  Enjoy your day!

Tonic for what ails ya....

Hi, hello!  I'm here today to show you some cards that came about as a result of messing with some Tonic Studios Nuvo products.  Both the Crystal Drops (which are opaque) and the Jewel drops (which have some transparency).  If you're interested in more of the how-to, go this post at Love is in the Details where I outline some of the ways you can work with Nuvo Drops.

In some places I actually blended the two - the Crystal Drops with the Jewel Drops.

It behaved a little differently from what I expected and if you'd like to find out more of what I learned while working with it, check out the link above.

Have a great rest of your day!

When all else fails, eat a donut!

Or maybe color a card full of donuts.  It's almost as satisfying!  You can have a taste of ALL the flavors without a single worry of how your pants will fit tomorrow!

I'm up on the Jane's Doodles blog today with these cards using the stamp set DoNuts.

I wanted to try a technique I've seen elsewhere, where the outline stamped image is heat embossed with white embossing powder.  I'm not convinced I love it so much in this case, but I'm going to try again with a floral stamp.  And I think you can still tell they're donuts.

So, eat up!  And thanks for stopping by today!

Hi friends, I have a couple of cards to share that are posted today on the blog at Jane's Doodles.

For this card, I built the design using three different house stamps from the Home Sweet Home set, but only colored one to keep it the focal point.  I tried a messy, patchy style of water coloring with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.

For the second card, I combined the Home Sweet Home set with the leaves from the Bloom set and again, employed the messy, patchy watercoloring style.  For both cards, I die cut a bunch of hearts, glued a few onto my cards and then covered them with Glossy Accents for a most pleasing tactile and visual experience!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Jane's Doodles post...

Hey-o!  We just arrived at our cottage at the lake, where we'll camp out for the rest of the summer, escaping the heat back in Arizona and thinking we're pretty shmart!
I knew I had a post due at Jane's Doodles for today, so I just unpacked the crafty bins and pulled together the quickest and easiest cards I could.  Went straight for the Bloom stamp set again - those gorgeous floral stamps practically create cards themselves!  I used the ABC's stamp set for the word Thanks, using the new distress oxide inks for the blue (it heat embosses beautifully!) and regular old Versafine Onyx for the black.  The "you're sweet" sentiment came from the Donuts stamp set.  I used the Papertrey Ink Cover die, Center Stage for the chevron designed background on the card on the left, and the MFT's Peekaboo Window die on the kraft card on the right.  In both cases, I left all the pieces in place and secured them with glue on the back.

And because it's raining today with no end in sight till tomorrow, I'ma see what other stamps make themselves into a card!

A Cactus Racket...

Hi friends!  I'm sharing a couple of cards today over at the Jane's Doodles blog!
This was such a fun set to work with!  You can make any combination of succulent garden that could possibly please you, and if you're anything like me, these plants will even survive a black thumb!  I colored the stamped images with water color pencils and used a bit of water to blend the pigment more smoothly.  For the card on the right, I created the background by laying down strips of washi tape and blending varying combinations of Faded Jeans, Broken China, Cracked Pistachio, Spiced Marmalade and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide inks.  Then I fussy cut the stamped images and popped them up for some dimension.  The Simon Says Stamp Stitched rectangle dies came in handy for making the card fronts too.

Have a wonderful day!

Vellum blooms...

Hello, hi!  I'm sharing this card and a layout over at the Jane's Doodles blog today.  I just keep being drawn back to this gorgeous floral stamp set; it makes creating something beautiful a breeze!

For this card, I stamped with clear versa mark ink on both the grey card stock and the vellum and heat embossed with white.  I colored the card stock flowers with a white coloring pencil and I fussy cut the vellum stamped florals before adhering them with tape runner and a pop dot adhesive.

I used the Bloom stamp set for the flowers and the Cactus stamp set for the "you're awesome" sentiment.

Have a great day!

Baby Beluga and Best Fishes...

Hi, Hello!
I'm sharing these cards today over at the Jane's Doodles blog.  I used the Under the Sea stamp set and I couldn't stop at just one!

I started with a fun background using the Hero Arts Waves stencil and some Distress Oxide tinted modeling paste.

As well, I used the new transparent Crystal Nuvo Drop (Clear and Sea Breeze) to create the fish bubbles and the whale spouts.  I LOVVVVVE how they dry clear!!

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great rest of your day!

An announcement and a blog hop...

Hello friends!  I've had a secret I've been busting to share and today I finally can!  I'm delighted to tell you that I've been invited to join the design team of Jane's Doodles!  As you can see by visiting the site and store, Jane is a crazy talented artist and her stamps are SO, so, so fun and cute and lovely!  A few weeks back I received a fun packet of stamps in the mail and just had to dive right in!

Today we're hosting a blog hop to showcase these three stamp sets:

The sets are very versatile so I made a variety of occasion cards besides a Mother's Day card. (I've never been prepared so far in advance!)

My first card was stamped and embossed on vellum, then colored with Sharpie markers on the back side, and layered over a streaky blue background paper.

For this next card, I blended the new Distress Oxide Inks by Tim Holtz onto the flower images, and lightly splattered them with water before cutting them out and adhering them onto dictionary paper.

This card is my favorite!  I filled in a whole card panel with the floral images, heat embossed with white embossing powder and then water color painted in a very loose and happy fashion.

Your next stop on the hop is Neha's blog.

You have a chance to win a stamp set of your choice by leaving a comment on each of the blogs in the hop! (The winner will be announced on Monday.)  As well, all clear stamp sets are 25% off through the weekend.

Here is the blog hop order in case of any broken links:
ME! (smiley face!)

Enjoy the rest of the hop and have a great day!

Blueprint sketches...

Hello again, I have something to share today that I made quite a while back and shared at Love is in the Details, but didn't get around to posting here until now.  I had been hearing about Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper and finally got a chance to play with it.  I stamped a (whole bunch) of the Stamper's Anonymous/Tim Holtz Blueprint Sketch stamps and colored them with Kuretake Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a paint brush.

This paper isn't like watercolor paper, so it doesn't want to be messed about with too much water, but it does let the pigment sit on the surface longer, allowing some beautiful blending with the markers alone or just a little bit of water.

Then, I was in JoAnn's Fabrics and found these cute frames on sale and they were perfect.  Some of the stamped images were framed, and some were turned into cards.  Stinkin' cute if I do say so myself!  And perfect for baby/teacher/birthday gifts and home decor.

Have a great day!  Thanks for stopping by!

Baby Showers....

Edited to add:  This post sat in the blog folder, as a draft for a very long time.  While I caught up on some life, y'know.  So it's late, but the pictures are still pretty to look at!  Enjoy!

So...I've gotten off track lately.  (Well...if on-track means all paper, all the time, that is.)  I blame it all on Pinterest and YouTube.  There is NOTHING you can not learn how to do on YouTube.  I am currently pursuing a degree in YouTube.  I have several semesters left.  The ones that cover shingling your home and doing emergency tracheotomies.  But the cake and cookies courses??  All over that!  Thing is, where there are cakes, you need to also have parties.  Check.  Daughter in law is growing a baby?  PARTY!!  Christmas Eve Dinner?  PARTY!!

Here are some photos from my daughter in law's recent baby shower.

After a lovely lunch was served and enjoyed, the Guest of Honor opened many lovely gifts, and the guests worked on a project that has since been made into a cute ABC Quiet Book.  Each person had one page to work on, ironing on a shape that corresponds to a letter of the alphabet.  Then they stitched "[letter] is for" to finish.
Then cake was served!  On offer, was a Vanilla Cake with banana jam and vanilla bean butter cream frosting,

...and an Earl Grey cake with lavender sense and lemon curd filling.

Each of the guests was given a little potted succulent to take home; a token of a little life needing care, similar to that of a new baby!

Now that I'm posting this so much later, I can also show you a little of the finished ABC book.

And our grandson, Archie Paul is here and growing like a sweet little bug!

Thanks for stopping by today!
