Paper patchwork #1....

Are you a scrap saver or are you quick to toss partly used paper?  Do you have a drawer where you're saving scraps, that has gotten so deep it would be like excavating the Middle Ages to actually delve to the bottom?  I'm a keeper.  Especially if it's paper I love and think I'll use again and might regret throwing out even a little square of.

So I decided to tackle a scrap-stack recently, by making a NEW sheet of scrapbook paper from pieces of old.  Chances are, you like what you like, and buy what you like, so you've got lots of paper that actually coordinates with each other very well!

Here is the paper I wanted to use, all spread out.
And after much shuffling and repositioning, I made 3 new papers.  Today I'm going to share the first of the layouts I made with those "new" papers.
You wouldn't be inclined to think those papers would play nice together, on the face of things, but I think once photos and supporting pieces of embellishments are added, pretty much anything can go.  That's a secret though, so don't tell the match-matchy collection designers I said so.
I felt like the bright floral paper in the upper right corner might be too visually heavy for the rest of the page, so I put the photos there and used the floral paper as something of a photo mat.  Then I balanced the page with similarly colored alphabet stickers on the lower left, and a cluster of colorful embellishments on the right.
Some of the papers are Follow Your Heart by My Mind's Eye, Fiesta by Kaisercraft, Chic Mix by FabScraps and Happy Days by Ruby Rock It.  I also used chipboard flowers by Pebbles, OLD chipboard label frames from Making Memories, fabric covered brads from Basic Grey and Crate Paper, and the alphabet stickers are Amy Tangerine Remarks and Memento (Thickers), Teresa Collins, Studio Calico Color Theory and Patchwork Thickers.

Thanks for stopping by today, and check back again to see the other two layouts I created from the other papers in that scrap pile!
